Abstract
Each year, hundreds of white-tailed and mule deer are struck by automobiles on the roadways of British Columbia. The Ministry of Highways has been submitting monthly roadkill reports to the Castlegar Conservation Officer Service since February 1985. This report is an assessment of these reports as well as data collected from the Insurance Corporation of BC and the Fish and Wildlife Branch. The information in this report can be used to assess the deer-vehicle collision problems within the Castlegar Zone and suggest possible solutions to alleviate them. |
