DAVID DEMKE . residing in Robson Long Beach honeymoon Castlegar’s United Church was the scene of the Aug. 15 wedding of David George Demke of Robson and Valerie Monica Rizzotti of Castlegar. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Demke of Robson and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rizzotti of Castlegar. The church on the after- noon of the wedding was decorated with candleabra covered with pink and white silk flowers as well as two large baskets of matching silk flowers. The bride and groom wrote and memorized their own vows which they exchanged during the double ring cere- mony that included the tradi- tional lighting of the candle. Rev. Ted Bristow offici- ated the ceremony while Wynn Scarff was organist. The theme from Love Story was played during the sign- ing of the registery. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin, floor. length gown, high necked with lace. The bodice was satin and lace, covered with pearls and the sleeves were puffy satin, narrowing into lace, lily tipped and covered with pearls. In back, the gown was adorned with a satin bow at the waist and a beautiful, flowing four-foot-long ruffled, overlay train. Finally, she carried a white, satin and lace handbag, made by her grandmother. Her headdress was a halo of white, sweetheart roses, baby's breath, seed pearls and satin ribbons. The bride carried a full bouquet, cascading with pink roses, alstroneria, pink ele- gance carnations, heather, statice and baby's breath. She also wore a gold chain, tear-drop necklace with a small diamond which was given to her by her parents just before she was married. The maid of honor was Dorren Innis of Fox Creek, Lions and tigers a Klass Act Klass Act, an American lion and tiger show, is coming to Chahko-Mika Mall. From Sept. 15 - 19 a number of lions and tigers will be on view to shoppers inside the mall during mall hours. For those who want to commemorate the occasion, cubs will pose for photos with humans. Klass Act is from San- dusky, Ohio. On tour, the trainer and his charges per. form two shows each day. While in Nelson, perform ances will be at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Thursday and Friday's shows will be at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Each show begins with an educational talk. Not the least of the topics is the power of the big cats and the danger that awaits an un wary trainer. Although dangerous, the cats still exhibit a rough form of affection. The animals are controlled mainly by the use of visual signals, a rapport established between cat and trainer The cats then go into a comedy routine. The attendants wore cock- tail-length dresses of pink silk with white lace over the skirt and large, pink silk bows to the right of the skirt. They also wore pink shoes, pearl necklaces and earrings and white, lace, fingerless gloves. ‘The ring bearer was the bride's nephew David Riz- zotti and the flower girl was the bride's niece, Felicia Riz- zotti, both of Castlegar. The flower girl carried a basket of pink elegance car- nations and alstroneria with statice and baby’s breath twisted around the handle. The attendants carried cas- cading bouquets similar to the bride's. They consisted of elegance carnations, alstron- eria, heather, statice and baby’s breath with long streamers of pink satin rib- bon. The best man was the groom's brother, Tom Demke of Burnaby, and the ushers were the bride's brother, Rick Rizzotti of Edmonton, Alta. and the groom’s uncle, Mike Hockley of Penticton. All three wore grey suits with white shirts and sported pink bow ties, cummerbunds and hankies, with pink car. nation boutonnieres adorned with baby's breath and greenery. The reception was held at the Legion Hall, which was decorated with pink hearts hanging from the ceiling with pink and white bells, pink and white streamers and two baskets of pink and white flowers. The four-tier wedding cake was decorated by the bride's mother Dixie ‘Rizzotti with white pearls draping each tier, as well as 36 pink flowers and 36 white doves. A miniature statue on top carried miniature pink flowers draping down over the top tier. The master of ceremonies was Kirby Wayling of Castle gar and Rick Rizzotti toasted the bride. Out-of-town guests came from Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Golden, Penticton, Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Trail.
