Ulcers Come in a Wide Variety of Name Types

My husband recently saw
the doctor because of abdom-
inal pain, and was told that he
had a stomach ulcer. My
mother, whois elderly, is under
treatment for an ulcer on her
leg. Have they both got the
same disease?

Answer:

One of the very basic
concepts of surgery taught to
all medical students. is the
process of ulceration, and the
associated understanding of
what an ulcer actually is,

Just as various diseases
may have the same symptom
(both a cold and hay fever may
cause the eyes to run), many
disease conditions may reault in
ulceration. In such cases the
formation of one or more ulcers
is part of the disease process.

What an ulcer?

exists, and inflammation of the
