CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, March 9, 1977 Stanley Humphries Sports Basketball Winding Up The basketball season at Stanley Humphries is now coming to a climax, The junior West Kootenay championship was held at Stanley second half came through with several key rebounds. The junior Rockettes will be travelling to’ Victoria next week to compete in the BCABA School this past weekend. In the opening games on Friday, both the boys’ team and the girls’ team were successful in defeating the Beaver Valley teams, The Rockettes won 42 to 27, Lori Price and Sharon Plotnikoff led the team. In the junior Rocker game, SHSS boys came out with a big 62-54 win over the arch rival Beaver Valley Flames. Tom Thor Larsen was hot for 32 points and Jed the team to its victory. «7% In Saturday's final the Rockettes met the Grand Forks Wolverines. After a very ex- citing game, the Rockettes lost with a 36-33 score. Team lead- ers were Kim Smith, with her sharp outside shooting, and ‘Pam Schreiber, who in the ) finals. In the junior Rocker final the big J. Lloyd Crowe team defeated the Rockers 52-36, The boys played with lots of hustle, but they could not control the rebounds over the bigger opposition. Congratulations to Mr. Carter and the junior Rockers on their fine season, The boys played exciting basketball all against J. g Crowe, the Rockers again ‘wiped out the opposition with a 54-35 score.
