ED WEGNER There are certain things on this earth that are very basic and fundamental, It is easy for man to get sidetracked by things that are not really very important. Man can hope against hope that it will work out after all, even when basic laws of life have been ignored, There are basic laws in science, mathematics, nutrition and the foods we eat that, if ignored, lead to di: the sentence of death. If sin and death were not real, but only a bad dream, we then could forget about them, However, these things are real. God has declared man - dead in sin, Dead men can not work, and we cannot work our way out of sin and death, The fact is that God, our Creator, is willing and able to pay the penalty for our sins, He has already paid the debt and therefore can and will forgive us our sins and give us new life — eternal life which we can have for the asking through Jesus Christ our Lord. John 3:18: “He that be- lieveth on him is not con- demned; but he that believeth not is condemned already.” To think that the way to “God is so simple that it is not important would be a fatal mistake. Matthew 11:15: “He that has ears to hear, let him hear.” results, God has also set down some basic laws concerning man himself and his spiritual wellbeing. These laws are not only basic but are, for the most part, very simple. First, we are the product of a Creator. This is a fact the Bible simply states and does not debate. The Christian will simply believe this fact. Second, we all have a will. We have the capacity to choose which way we will go. Our will, of course, is set in doing our own thing. Look around you and you will find this to be true. Third, it is also a basic fact that the sentence of death is upon each of us. You may live to be 100 but this sentence will be carried out. Anyone claiming to live on the earth eternally will be suspect, with good reason, of mental deficiency. Connected with these basic laws of life is the fact of sin. God in His holy Word has given usa very shocking estimate of sin. Romans 3:23: “All have sinned.” Romans 3:10: “There is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 5:12: “Death pass- ed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Sin and death are closely connected. This is also a fact of life. Now, in this world of sin and death, there is truly a way which is life indeed. There is hope based on facts, not fan- tasies. This way is very basic, it is also very simple. God, our Creator, has made a way to deliver us from Have you been ‘looking for" a new refrigerator lately? If you have, you've probably noticed a large label marked “Energuide”. “So what?” you say, “Just another label.” “No, not just another label. The Energuide label, which is required on all refrigerators manufactured after September FIRST AID TIP LOW VOLTAGE eaten INJURIE: © Usually incurred around the home © Moisture is a conductor of electric- ity. If the point of contact is wet, even low voltages, may cause paraly- sis of the heart, a sudden stoppage of breathing or both ® Local effect is a burn which is deeper and more ex- treme than it appears ® With faulty switches, water may continue to carry the current even when turned off @ Avoid contact with the casualty. Break contact by switching the current, removing the plug or wrench ing the cable free @ If impossible to do, stand on some dry insulating material and by means of dry wood, folded newspéper or rubber, attempt to break contact by pushing the casualty’s fimbs away from the electricity © Treat by giving artificial respiration if necessary and cover burns with a sterile dressing @ Seek medical aid. (Consumer Comment/ 1978, is there to tell you how much energy that refrigerator uses. The label shows the num- ber of kilowatt-hours (KWh) of electricily per month that the appliance will use. So’ now, along with the usual considera- tions (price, appearance and | reliability), you can also com- pare models for the. cost of operation. Obviously, the more KWh it takes to run the fridge, the more you'll pay the utility’ company. “Terrific!” you think. “But why only refrigerators? Why not other appliances, too?" Well, refrigerators are just the beginning. Eventually, Energuide labels will also be on freezers, dishwashers, electric ranges, clothes washers and dryers and oil and gas furnaces, Energuide labelling is a program developed by Con- sumer and Corporate .Affairs Canada in conjunction with other regulatory agencies. It's designed to make consumers more aware of how. much energy appliances use, and to encourage the manufacture of products which make the most efficient use of energy. So, look for the Energuide label — you'll conserve energy and save money! Western Canada School of pectoneet ing Ute.
