This morning the body was conveyed from Undertaker Beatty’s place to Northport by wagon. Political circles are violently agitated by a mysterious document, so much so that one of the aldermen has offered to fight a well known attorney, at any time or place or with any weapon he may choose. The document is nothing more or less than type written copies containing a proviso thit if the mein- bers of the council will ecceed to certain demande, the attack against the ‘‘cur- rent expense” and “‘sewer” bylawa will be withdrawn. Among other things, it was demanded that Maj. Cooper be forever debarred from having any connection with the city inany way. - Another clauee is that the “citizens” are willing to let the council draw the money for the $15,000 bylaw, providing no more than $10,000 of it is spent. The first inkling, to the public, of such a document was given last evening, by . Hon. T. Mayne Daly called attention by letter to the dangerous condition of the long ice covered steps in various parts of the city, and also the fact that the city was liable for damages in case of an accident. Referrei to board of works. The objection of John McGrea to a skating rink being constructed on Second avenue, between Washington and Spo- kane street was referred to the board of works. Another objection from L. J. Lockwood about the skating rink being constructed on block 17 was referred to the same committee.
