veloping countries and cattle
and swine herds in North
America.

But part of the research is
to develop a way to do the
experiements without using
mice, said Ken Johnson, head
of the National Research
Council of Canada’s pathogen
(toxic bacteria) laboratory.

concentrating on a protein
called heat-stable enterotox-
in, a tough pathogen pro-
