CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, May 12, 1960 Talent Night — Held at Robson The Robson Community hall was fifled to capacity recently when the recreation society spon- sored a Talent Night program. . F, Hyson was MC for the evening and made a few intro- ductory remarks and congratula- ted the recreation society for sponsoring the Talent Night. ‘The following was the program for the evening: The ist Robson Brownie Pack performed two action songs, Bow Bow Belinda and Hokey Pokey. ' the Blink Blanks, Laverne. Gleboff and Loreen Webster, with did a song and dance entitled “Sisters.” Mrs. A. Thorp accom- panied. * The Ist Robson Girl Guides presented a short play “Who's Afraid of Ghosts.” It was directed by 's. M. Beynon and the cast included: Babs, Kathy Giraud; Helen, Geraldene Giraud; Rober- ta, Helen Belbeck; Winnie, Eve- lyn Hunter; Carrie, Barbara Fowler; Denise, Rita Schuepfer. Russian singing by the Sun- day School was a novelty hum- ber, Following a number by the entire group, a sextet of boys — Jolinny Gleboff, Billy and Wally Rilkoff, Billy Gorkoff and Larry and Anthony Wanjoff — sang a number in Russian. A quartet of very young girls, Vicky Ogloff, Monica Zibin, Louise Koochin and Christine Evin sang the ever popular hymn “Jesus Loves Me” in Russian. The group then roun- ded off thelr participation in the program with a solo in Russian by Johnny Gleboff. These pieces were well enjoyed. “An Excerpt from Tom Saw- yer" was the title of a reading given by Brian Belbeck. Jim Waldie performed a solo on the base horn. This was the well-known play by ‘Thornton’ Wilder, ‘The Happy Journey.” The play makes great use of mime, in that there are no properties or ecenery. The play was extemely well-received and enjoyed. Much credit is due John Norris, the very capable director, and the very talented cast who played convincing and likeable roles. The cast consisted of Mama, Marjorie Rockhill; Arthur, David Stadler; Caroline, Beverley Hyson; Papa, Leslie Waldie;. Stage Manager, Norman Skeene and Beulah, Jane Rogers. The Brilliant school choir closed the evening with three pieces entitled: “ ss of Richmond Hill,” “Stars Are The Windows of Heaven” and “Let The Rest Of The World Go By.” Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop Earns $1,885 During 1959 The Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop raised $1885 during the past year, with a net profit of $900, and apart from a nut drive held in December, this has been the auxtliary’s only fund-raising pro- ject. i This was reported by Mrs, J.
