She and husband Dan Obradovic are the independent Producers of the album that Nielsen says has been devel oped more as a professional demo tape rather than an attempt to crack into the popu lar market ‘I'd really like to tour on the festival circuit and gig in the folk clubs across Canada Nielsen said This album is a finished product that I can send around to the booking agents and festival organizers by way of audition Not above recovering some (formerly Bill & Don invite you to come out Patrick's Day the Irish way dancing and friend. Then she had to recruit session musicians to perform the songs, and each of them had to be supplied with charts and tapes of each song Once the rough cuts were made, she sought feedback from fellow students, instruc tors in her c6llege program, and other musicians. Nielsen went into the Project with few musical arrangements in mind and maintained the flexibility to take the advice of her session concrete musicians and engineer for the final arrangements. “I did, how ever, retain the final say in what went on the album,” she said “Every bit of it is real music, no synthetic sound was employed,” she revealed proudly. After six months of hard work, Troubled Times was teady for release. An initial run of 500 tapes gave her enough to send around to potential employers, friends and music- industry contacts and still leaves some to sell directly to fans. ‘ ‘A journey of 1,000 miles begins with the first step,” quipped Nielsen, trotting out an old cliche, however, this one seems to fit the occasion. Once engaged in the process she found it both challenging and enjoyable She mentioned the degree of commitment required was much easier to attain when there was more than one person commit- ted to the project As for projecting the eventual success of her album, Nielsen is Prepared to take it one step at a time Advertising M-F Circulation M Office M | Classified M | Editorial M We look fo ~~ WE'RE OPEN! Retirement planning and tax Strategies are two of the three most important aspects for most people, with investing. the third key area You could probably summarize a brief plan on a page or two while a more detailed plan could run to several pages. If a financial planner has drawn up a plan for you whether a two-page outline or a plan with perhaps more than 100 pages of suggestions, computer projec tions and general background information—it also contains these key points, based on the Six-step process the Canadian Association of Financial Planners outlines for its members.
