THE APPLICATION

West Kootenay Power Ltd. ("WKP") applied November 30, 1989 for a
general increase in electrical rates of 6.9% to become effective January 1,
1990. The Commission,-by Order No. G-67-89, authorized an interim
increase of 6.9% over existing rates, subject to refund with appropriate
interest, to be confirmed at a public hearing.

THE PUBLIC HEARING

The Commission has set down the Application for public hearing to
commence at 9:00 a.m. local time, Tuesday, April 3, 1990 at the Uplander
Hotel, 1919 Columbia Avenue, Rossland, B.C.

The Division of the Commission named to review the Application will be

Any person wishing to be present at the public hearing and to give

received not later than Friday, March 2, 1990 to the Commission Secretary

nature of the Interest in the proceedings.

reports of activities

The Parent Advisory Council of
Kinnaird junior secondary school
held its monthly meeting Feb. 6 in the
KJSS library.

Principal Bruce Gerrand reported
on recent activities as well as up-
coming events of the student body.
Late January saw the school host a
one-day tournament for debaters in-
volving schools from” the Okanagarr
and West Kootenay. Students from
Grade 6 through 12 debated two
separate topics, ‘‘Be It Resolved That
Neighbors Make Good Fences’’ and
