Initially, recreation was associated with summer play- round programs and night activities which took place in the schools throughout the year, Since these initial times, recreation has ex- panded to include the op- eration of y facil- seasonal recreational oppor- tunities in the form of special events and programs, The complex commission is made up of five members, two from the recreation com- mission, and the three area directors who are elected members to the regional dis- trict board. The recreation depart- ment is a function of the Regional District of Central Kootenay and is managed by two local commissions. The recreation commis- sion is made up of 11 com- munity members, four of which are appointed by the City of Castlegar, one from the school board, three from electoral Area I and three from electoral Area J. it is the responsibility of the rec- reation commission to man- age the Bob Brandson Pool, Robson Pool, wading pools, Pass Creek Park and provide the C Complex. Thrums couple marks ‘50th anniversary “Mr. and, Mrs. Fred Esovoloff of Thrums, along with their children, gathered at the Monte Carlo restaur- ant in Castlegar on March 15 to celebrate the couple's 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. Esovoloff was born Aug: 15, 1910 in Langham, Sask. and came to B.C. in 1929, taking up residence in Thrums. Mrs. Esovoloff was born in Pelly, Sask. on Feb. 25, 1912 and came with her family that year to settle in Qotischenia. She lived in that community until 1924, when Kinnaird W.I. the family moved to Thrums. - The LEsovoloffs were - married March .14, 1930 in Thrums and have continued + The arrival of the family is to be expected around April 12. The family itself is comprised of two adults and three children. Pierre Boun- nhot, the father, aged 36, isa welder by trade with six’ years’ experience and 10 years’ basic education.
