Brian has been a stand-out defenceman and a big leader for us, Although still Midget age, he has great leadership quali- tles and a strong future in hockey. Ifanyone has proven to me that he belongs in this league since training camp, it’s Kevin Wilson, He's not only our most improved athelete, but also the best team man that we have, He's been able to help out the Juveniles that have’ come. up, while still improving his own game. The guys are starting to adapt to the faster league and are developing just that much quicker. The only unfortunate part of it all is that most of them won't be here when they are 17 or 18 years old, because already two Tier 1 teams want three of our players to camp next year for a look, Two of them are still Midget-age, and I've got a feeling that number might in- crease, Right now I'm in the pro- cess of trying to find one ex- perienced defenceman, either from Calgary or Kelowna. If I ‘get the right person, we'll be the team to beat in this league. There are a couple of hockey players in town that would help us, but they don't want to play in the Junior league, so we have to go out of town. All I need now is one big aggressive defenceman who can take charge on the ice and control the play in our end—an experienced person who doesn't panic—then we'll be as good as any team in the league. Rick Hlookoff, who we ac- quired from the Nelson Juniors, will give us.a young goaltender for a few years to come. Last year Rick played Bantam Rep in Nelson, and is only 15 years old. To this date, we've done better than any- body had ever hoped. Steve Bozek lately has started to develop and by Christmas should be one of our more exciting players, along with Geoff Yule and Gordy Pace, so we have a good nucleus of local talent. With the fan support we're getting, it's making it an exciting first year. Where everyone had. visions of the old Apollos, and were placing us last in the league, I've got hopes of finishing maybe as «high as third this year, Then too, anything can happen in the playoffs. , I just hope that our fans don't get down on us because we're atill experiencing grow- ing pains, The going is really going to be tough from now on, and this is when we really need the loud cheering in the stands. As is the case with regular hunting seasons, the success rate for limited entry hunting is: under 40 per cent. These special seasons are currently open only to residents of the province.
