District have started up their
winter sessions, There will be a
number of Cubs attaining the
age of 11 who will’go up to the
Scouts, Boys who wish to become
Cubs (aged 8 to 11) or Scouts
(11 to 18) should apply to join
without delay. It is hoped that
the Scouts at Kinnaird will start
up again very soon. A District
Executive meeting was held at
the United Church Hall last
‘Thudsday with Mr. J. Dalziel in
the chair, Reports of the Cub
and Scout camps were given.
Both were very successful and
many badges were earned. The
Scout Camp at Deer Park actual-
ly made a profit of a few doll-

ars, the Cubs (over 40 from the
District attended the Trail Dis-
trict camp at Fruitvale.

The Council approved the
suggestion that the South Slocau-
Bonnington group should be in-
eorpoarted in the new District
and the recommendation was
sent to Provincial Headquarters.

Plans were made for a con-
fedence for all the Scout Districts
of the Kootenays to be held at
Castlegar in Navember. Some
Leaders will be attending an
important meeting at Nelson on
Friday, Sept. 10th, when the
question of proposed reorganiza-
tion of the Scout Movement in
Canada will be discussed with
the Canadian Executive Com-
missioner, Mr, Findley.

tiered wedding cake, which rest-
ed ona bed of tulle and was top-
ped with a miniature bridal
couple under a flowered arch.
Graceful white swans supported
the tiers and decorations were in
white and silver. The cake was
baked by the groom’s mother,
Mrs, C. J. Sahlstrom and decora-
ted by Mrs. Helen McLeod, aunt
of the groom,
Toastmaster was Mr. Gordon
Turner and the toast to the bride
was given by Vic Rella. The
groom responded for the bride
and in turn proposed a toast to
the bridal attendants, which was
answered by the best man. Adch-
deacon Resker spoke briefly,
saying he had known the young
couple since they were young-
strs and wishing them a long and
happy life together.

Mr. Turner read telegrams
received from relatives and
friends in Calgary, Vancouver,
Toronto and Red Deer and one
from the bride’s grandmother in
England.

The group enjoyed commun-
ity singing, including special solo
numbers from same of the guests,
and were shown ‘color slides of
the .Trout. Lake -Arrowhead
country, where the young couple
will be residing. The groom is
Assistant Forest Ranger at Ar-
rowhead,

A brief period of dancing
completed the evenings enter-
tainment, '

For her going away outfit the
bride changed to a light navy
suit of soft wool with blue fea-
ther hat and complimenting ac-
cessories,

The bride’s mother, Mrs. Ba-
ker, chose for her daughter's
wedding, a dressmaker suit of
grey, silk, tweed material, with
white accessories and ‘corsage of
yellow carnations. Mrs. Sahistrom
wore a navy and white dress
with grey hat and pink carnation
corsage.
