• Regarding retirees golf, it has been a real pleasure to work with the guys who have come forward to help run this season's program and I want to thank one and all for their efforts. Yesterday, we were out on the course around 8 a.m. and had a nice time. Larry Lavigne came over from Summerland and wanted someone to go out with him on the course, whea, he first started to play the game. Bud Hachey and I went out with him and listened to all his glowing stories of the courses he plays in the glorious :J --- l. EPP-JALK Okanagan. However, he still thinks the Rossland course is a real challenge. •Over on the curling front, I didn't get up to see the guy from Hinton, Alta., who was sharpening our rocks at the rink, but I did hear some glowing reports of his work. I think I must have been the. only guy on the club who did not find time to get up there. I don't hear much from the committee, which was formed to try ·to run the curling for us this winter. I beard they had not met yet to make any decisions. We should get some word in the very near future. The Warriors have now played three pre-season exhibitions and have yet to ~ defeat Sunday afternoon, at the Arena, they battled the Spokane Flames in the early going, got behind two goals and then took charge. It wasn't long until the Flames were just a flicker as the snappy and long passing attack of the home team clicked repeatedly and they poured in the goals. In the two home games so far, almost everyone in the line-up has shown the ability to put the puck in the net On Friday night it was Gordie Stanton getting a ha~trick while Rob Porcellato and Garnett Compton notched two each in the 11-2 romp over the Nite-Hawks. Sunday, it was Rod Deibert with three and Dallas Drake with two, who sparked the attack against theFlames. One feature of the pre- 1'i111 !wry PIIIIP« season thus far has been the relentless body-work shown by all the boys on the team. The boys seem to be able to use the boards to great advantage and their long passes have been clicking consistently. Lloyd McLellan has four goalies on hand, all who have shown some good .moves. That will be one area that will need some thought before a decision is made. The two additions to the defence, Patrick Corrado and Tom Feeney, have shown themselves to be willing mixers and can both handle the puck well. Dallas Drake and Troy DeJorig have shown a lot of desire around the op- position net They wt1l score a lot of points in tlie season ahead. Both the games we hate-: seen have been · well~ handled from an offlciatl#g' angle. From what we ha~l seen so far, we would appear to be headed for .a pretty promising season from everyone. ·• I haven't seen a schedule so far so I can't say when it's going to start but it can't be too soon for me. Turning to another subject for a moment, Dennis Hirons, our Legior1 darts major-domo, tells me he has a program lined up for the club this winter and I shall be able to fill in th& details for you next week. .
