We have had a number of them in the past year or 80, .3.We had a bad tragedy when groceries went up in price, when clothing went up, when our tax- es were increased, and our local prices of lumber went up sky high. Our cost of living as a whole rose to a new high. I don’t seem to recall that when all these items mentioned went up in price, that there was a front page editorial saying what a tragedy it was. I don’t recall the local mer- they raised their prices but when the woodworker trys to gain a decent wage to pay for all these items, then it’s a big tragedy. In the past few months there has been a steady crying by the employers that. they can’t afford to, pay a decent wage at the .prices they sell their lumber. An average working man can't afford to build an out- house, let alone a home to live in. In the Munroe Report it stated that the offer given to the IWA would_meap.an_ extra 360 per month per. person, but it failed to mention that it would take 16 months before the full $60 would be paid. - I think we ‘should be fair has to offer If you feel the woodwork- ers should wait two years to get & fair wage, then the waadwork— er feels that local merchants should also wait two years be- fore raising their prices. In closing, I'd like to say one more thing: the price of a coast is 10 cents. The judge for the court of Tacoma and district justice court for Pierce County and a part-time instructor for the City price of our local paper is also 10 cents. So any way you look at it, that’s parity.
