The show is a com- bination of song, dance, drama and comedy, plus plenty of instrumental music. Amongst themselves, members of this talented family * play 20 musical instruments. Besides being entertaining, the show also promotes iamily unity and thus has been chosen as part of B.C.’s Family Month. While not as well-known ss Utah's two other entertainment families, The Kings and the Osmonds, the Wilkinsons are extremely talented. Mrs. Lor- raine Wilkinson, who has led the group since the death of her husband, formerly starred in her own radio and TV show, “Lyrics by Lorraine", heard and seen in Salt Lake City, Portland and San Francisco. She is an The other members of the family are no less talented. * Inaddition to its concert in Trail, the Wilkinson family is , also scheduled to perform in Victoria, Vancouver and Ver- non. So that families of all income brackets may attend, the admission price has been composer, and several of the songs in the show are of her own composition. Mrs. Wilkin- son was offered a movie con- tract by 20th Century Fox, but turned it down in order to raise a family. While in radio, she won the Ad Club “Silver Award.” kept toa Advance tickets may be purchased at the Singer Sewing Centres in Trail and Castlegar. They may also be purchased at the door at a slightly higher rate. Further information may . be obtained from Tom Roul- stone of Castlegar, r By Pastor DONALD W. REED Pulpit and Pew (This is another in the Family Month series, in conjunction with the Proclamation of our provincial government and a number of local communities. This week's article is con- tributed by Rev. Ted Bristow.) As of tomorrow, my wife and I will have been married for 10 years. And we're still in love! Insome ways it-seems only - y Ye tain conflicts. tov workisout, yesterday that we met, became’. friends, and decided to get married. But then I look at my two children, our home, and photos of how young we once looked and I realize that, yes indeed, it actually was 10 years ago! I remember the wedding day. We tried to have the kind of wedding that would be a little more “real” than the formal procedure many. wed- dings are. We helped to create. our own wedding service. We tried to make the reception a good time for our friends. And we actually succeeded in mak- ing most people happy, though my wife and her mother remember the hard work it took to get everything ready on time. T wouldn't know so much about that behind-th rush. The morning of May 20, 1967, I was having.a pleasant walk in Stanley Park, carefully guarded by my brothers the best man. It’s beena fod 10 years. I consider myself happily mar- ried: That's not to say marriage is all happiness, mind. you. Living together with another - person: inevitably: involves) cer- gives you lots of practice in neighborly love, right in your own home, especially when you've committed yourself to love your partner for them- selves, not just for what you can get out of living together. © The first commandment? Jesus said the first command- ment is to love God. And T'd be | certain idiocyncracies toactept,” a certain hard word and respon- sibility—especially when the children arrive on the scene. Marriage sure beats being alone, though. Being forced to work out differences and be- come responsible sure beats being spoiled and selfish all your life. And being committed to one another for a lifetime sure beats the informal moving- in-together-and-seeing-how-it- works-out arrangement that some people substitute for marriage. Being committed to one another is somehow what mar- riage is all about, because somehow that’s what life is all about, Jesus said that loving your neighbor as yourself is the second most important com- of: all. Marri: important in giving my wife and I a happy 10 years together. It helps you a lot to forgive one another when you believe God forgives. It helps you a lot to care about the other person when you believe God cares about us all. There's nothing like worshipping together, dis- cussing the meaning of life together, sensing together that there is a wonderful More to life than success and pleasure to draw a couple close to one another. Somehow I can't quite see how couples make it without the glue of faith to help them stick together. ‘At. least, that’s been my experience during the first 10 years of married life. { church | directory ST.
