In the south the fire hazard is low to moderate.” Pang said that fire hazard ratings are set after considering an areas “temperature, precipitation, soil moisture content and wind speed.” Because those conditions are poor in northern B.C., the forest service has imposed campfire restrictions. “But (Castlegar’s) Arrow Lakes forest district is okay for now,” Pang said. " “Our weather technician is telling us that there’s going to be a general drying trend this week — If that’s the case the danger ratings will shoot right up and (the Arrow Lakes dis- trict) will get fire restrictions too.” The long range Castlegar forecast calls for the dry weather to continue with highs reaching the low 30s Cel- sius for today and Thursday.
