year-old Jackie Jones, a

ey League game in Portland
on Friday, Nov. 16.

Jones said Saturday that
there is no way that she will
drop an assault charge

Trip along coast
is one to remember

A glance at a map of British:

Columbia will tell the tourist that
many of the routes passing
through some of Canada's most
spectacular landscopes are the
province's waterways,

Among them, the Inside Pas-
suge is-one of the world's most
scenic—flanked on one side by
thousunds of islands, on the other
by the towering peaks of the Coast
Range.

The unspoiled beauty of the
Inside Passage can be best savored
during a 72-hour mini-cruise on
board the Queen of Prince Rupert,
operated by the British Columbia
Ferry Corporation.

There are two sailings euch
week, starting from Vancouver
Monday and Thursday nights,
and they are available between
Oct. 2 and May 30.

EAGLES AND WHALES
The cruise along the 850
kilometres of sheltered waters

between Vancouver and Prince

Rupert is an unforgettable experi-
ence. It is also an extraordinary

with its islands, lush forests, snow-
capped mountains, waterfalls,
secluded bays and misty fjords.

hugging the shores have colorful
links with the province's and
Canada's rich native and pioneer

One hundred and seventy kilo-
metres north of Vancouver, the
Queen of Prince Rupert passes
through the world-famous tyee
salmon fishing grounds off Camp-
bell River and, ao little farther
north, the once dreaded Seymour
Narrows which, even today, is a
challenge to most vessels.

Ocean Falls is an interesting
port of call, A popular Indian
hunting and fishing camp for
more than a century, Ocean Falls
has been a mill town since 1909.

FINNISH SETTLEMENT
The Queen of Prince Rupert
also passes by Sointula on Mal-

-colm Island, where Finnish coal

miners settled in 1903, and
Namu, where archeologists un-
covered a large midden that
showed the bay has been occu-
pied under different cultures for
several cen‘uries.

Arrival at Prince Rupert,

known as the Halibut Capital of &

the world, marks the end of the
northbound trip. Here you step
ashore and, after breakfast, are
taken on a sightseeing tour of the
city before .embarking on the
return leg.
