... wil , lary ' During the past weekend half-a-dozen plus of the Rossland Legion members travelled to New Denver where our Legion Zone Golf tournament , was being held this year. The weather was ideal all day and the course was in fine shape. We had a fine supper {an excellent cold plate) and ate in the open with refreshments on the side. It was indeed a fine weekend outing. Amie Sherwood, Jon Holm, Rob Harasin and Bart Dudley played in one foursome and I was an odd ball so I had to play in the following •. group. It so happened that I've known all my part.ners for some time and played a number of different games with them. Take George Beaudry, for instance, I've played poker with him, curled with him and various other activities, but this was my first golf game with him. Then there was Mike Verzuh. With him I have curled more than once and Jimmy Moore of Castlegar with whom I have had a number of memorable visits over the past few years. As I said before, the course was good, company great and I had a great time, but the storm we came through coming down the valley was a dandy. Winners in the ladies, low gross was Vi Turner of 'Salmo with 98, while low net went to Joan Boutilier along with the Calloway best score of 71. ~udy Brown won the hidden hole and was runner-up in the Calloway. Pat Secco won the long drive the leathy Tucker the hardest worker prize. Among the men it was Larry Ferguson of Nakusp who took home the trophy with an 81. Gary McPherson and Al McAulay of Trail had a shootout for the rvMer-up spot, which McAulay won and the wiMer of the Calloway was Jim Moore, while Sam Browne came second.
