Beginning as Milly's Fish and Chips, a tradition of serving good food at this location was established in the late 1970's. Located on the 600 block of Nelson’s Baker Street, The Main Street Diner occupies a narrow former at a store front. Herein lies the rub. Seating 48 inside and another 12 on the sidewalk when weather permits, the place is nearly always filled to capacity. This is especially true at the lunch and dinner hours. Since the management adheres to a no reservations policy, you are seated on a first come, first serve basis. This is a warning to be prepared to queue up for at least ten minutes at peak hours. This, however, is not necessarily a bad situation. It gives you the opportunity to savor the aromas of the meals being enjoyed around you. iIn_ the meantime, you can scan the menu while your mouth waters in antici--------pation. Followirig 1 registration and refreshments various digni- taries were introduced and welcomed. Verna Little, Presi- dent of the Trail Regtonal Hos- pital Auxiliary, spoke follow- ing the theme ‘Volunteers For Health.’ Financial reports were heard from 11 different areas in the West Kootenay. The highlight of the seminar was a flower arranging workshop with Lynn Monkhouse demon- strating and several draws were made for crafts donated by various auxiliaries. The Treasure Shop has re- cently seen some improve- ments with the addition of vast amounts of shelving built and donated by some very am- bitious and talented members of the Kiwanis Club. Our thanks go out to Bill Moore, Andy Shutek, Mario Fehrenberg and Rob Dunlap. We greatly appreciate the con- tribution and the shelves have already been filled with a good selection of books and toys. There is also a good selection of clothing that can be used for Halloween costumes. Our members will be in at- tendance providing assistance at the blood donors clinic Thursday at the Community Complex. Many thanks go out to the community for the strong sup- port and various contributions we have received in the past at the Treasure Shop and we al- ways welcome donation of clean clothing in good condi- tion.
