Eight sisters from Twin Temple No. 33, Salmo, took part in the initiation cer- emony. On Oct. 8 Kootenay Temple No. 37 held its first meeting of the month with a potluck supper in honor of special guest Wendy Beatty, Grand Chief of British Columbia on her official visit. A total of 45 guests attended from Trail, Rossland, Fruitvale, Salmo, Victo- ria and Castlegar. Acting MEC Pat Verzuh chaired the meeting in the absence of MEC Jan Neu- mann. MEC Olive Hamilton of Island Temple No. 8 Victoria was welcomed. Past District Deputy Grand Chiefs Hilda Simister, Maple Leaf No. 4, Ross- land; Velia McLim, No. 3, Trail; Vi Milne and Charlotte Beatie, Rosevale No. 38, Fruitvale; Helen Parsons, Twin Temple No. 33, Salmo; Jean Jones, Joy Saun- ders, Ora Lightle, Joan Marks and Lil Neumann, Kootenay No. 37 were intro- duced and welcomed. Grand Chief Wendy Beatty was es- corted to the alter by Manager Bernice Barrass, introduced and given Public Grand Honors. The GC was then escorted to the MEC’s Station were she was presented with a corsage on behalf of Kootenay No. 37. Visiting dignitaries presented and given Grand Honors were PSR Phyllis Wood of Maple Leaf No. 4, Rossland; Au- drey Rothwell of No. 38; SR Roberta Piper of No. 33; SA Rose Soberlak of No. 37 and PGC Doris Dimock of No. 33. Grand Chief Wendy was escorted to each of the officers stations by GM Su- san Bycroft for an addendum pertaining to her theme of equality and friendship for Pythian progress. Under good of the order, Ruth Maze was escorted to the MEC’s Station on the occasion of her 95th birthday. The GC was then asked to say a few words and gave a very impressive talk.
