Old-age
pensions
increase

OTTAWA (CP) — The
latest cost-of-living increases
in federal benefits for older
Canadians were announced
by Health Minister Jack Epp.

The old-age security pen-
sion paid to all residents of
Canada from age 65 goes up
to $300.34 a month in April,
May and June from the cur-
rent rate of $297.37.

The maximum guaranteed
income supplement for a
single person 65 or older
rises to $356.94 from $353.41,
and the maximum supple-
ment for a married person
increases to $232.47 from
$230.17.

The maximum spouse's al-
lowance for a person 60 to 65
who is married to a recipient
of the income supplement
will get $532.81 instead of
$527.54, and needy widows or
widowers 60 to 65 will get
$588.24 instead of $582.42.

company's latest contract

after workers in nearby
Sept-Iles, Que., had accepted
a similar offer.

The dispute centres on
