COURSES OFFERED Physics 111A — ELEMENTARY PHYSICS A general survey of mechanics and heat. PREREQUISITE: Physics 11 or 91 and Mathmatics 12 or 91. Mathematics 111A must be taken before or concurrently. Students who have not taken Physics 11 must take an additional 2 hours of tutorials. (4-0-2-3) Physics 111. B — ELEMENTARY PHYSICS A general survey of wave motion, electricity, magnetism, optics and atomic and nuclear physics. PREREQUISITE: Physics 111A and Mathematics 111A. Mathematics 111B must be precede or be taken concurrently. (4-0-2-3) Physics 211A — ELECTRICITY Basic AC and DC circuit theory, fundamentals of electric and magnetic fields, motion of charged particles in electric and magnetic fields. PREREQUISITES: Second class standing in Physics 111B or equivalent, and in Mathe- matics 111B or equivalent. Mathematics 211AB must precede or else be taken concurrently. (3-0-0-3) Physics 211B — HEAT AND THERMODYNAMICS Heat, gas laws, elements of thermodynamics and kinetic theory. PREREQUISITE: Physics 212A and Mathematics 211A. Mathematics 211B must precede or be taken concurrently. (3-0-0-3) Physics 212A — MECHANICS Vectors, dynamics, energy, momentum, harmonic motion, rigid body motion and inverse square law. PREREQUISITES: Second class standing in Physics 111B or equivalent, and in Mathe- matics 111B or equivalent. Mathematics 211AB must precede or else be taken concurrently. (3-3-0-3) Physics 212B — MECHANICS Lorenz transformation, relativity: dynamics, momentum and energy: principles of invariance, equivalence: particles of modern physics. PREREQUISITE: Physics 212A and Mathematics 211A. Mathematics 211B must precede or be taken concurrently. (3-3-0-3) Physics 150A — APPLIED PHYSICS ; A basic course in mechanics and heat. This course is designed for students in the Applied Arts and Science Division of the following technologies: Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical-Electronics.
