The recent Kootenay Cruise attracted 153 entries and thou- sands of spectators last week- end, making the third annual the best ever. Entries came from as far away as Hope, with a number of entries also travelling from Spokane, Creston, Cranbrook and Riondel, just to name a few. A strong showing from local car enthusiasts was evident as entries from Nelson, Trail and Castlegar made their way onto the Kiwanis soccer field next to the Castlegar Rec Centre for Saturday's show and shine. “All the comments we have received have been very posi- tive,” said Doreen Mills, one of eight core organizers. “Visitors commented on the community itself and how lucky we are to live in this beautiful place.” This year's cruise was open to motorcycles and although there were only three entries, Mills is positive that next year will be bigger and better for that particular class and for the cruise in general. “Things are going so well and the interest in this annual event is so positive that we are consid- ering limiting the number of entries. The Kootenay Cruise has the potential to become huge and we don’t want to lose that personal touch by letting it get that big.” A swap meet, poker run and 50°s dance rounded out the weekend of activities. The dance, added Mills, was sold out and was a lot of fun for all who attended. So what's in store for next year? “Things*will be bigger better without a doubt,” finished Mills. Seniors’ news?
