Although stress is on par ticipation, there |will be many fine athletes displaying their talents during the games. Demonstration sports will include floor curling, croquet, bocce, square dancing and synchronized swimming. “At this point is is necessary to ask the general public to join our organization as volunteers to keep things running smoothly,” said, adding their help and interest would be beneficial in operating the upcoming games in a professional manner For further information, drop into the Games Office, on Cedar Avenue in Trail or phone 364-2666 Morris stomp Calgary CALGARY (CP) The effect was like taking a hammer toan aspirin. The Edmonton Eskimos pulverized the Stampeders 54-4 Friday night and the demoralizing and humiliating loss leaves Calgary with a headache that may not be cured this season And the Esks loved every minute of it : “The offence did a fabulous job and everybody. had beamed linebacker Dan Bass in describing Ed- monton’s six touchdowns and four field goals. “We were sitting on the sidelines and everybody couldn't-wait to get back having fun.” Bass has particular reason to smile He used to be a Stampeder until he was traded to Edmonton prior to the 1984 season ““L liked playing for Calgary, but 1 like where lam now.” That's a statement few Stamps can echo. What made the defeat all the more horrifying was that starting quar terback Danny Barrett had predicted a day before that the € algary offence was finally starting to gel But it looked more like watery jello Friday night as Edmonton’s defensive musclemen sliced through the Stamp offence like a sharp knife. The total: a dismal 212 yards net offence to 584 for the Eskimos The defence sunk to similar lows, allowing the Eskimos to score almost at will. At one point, Edmonton's receivers were so wide open, Tracy Ham and Rick Worman could only shake their heads and laugh at the ease with which they were competing their passes. “It feels great,"’ said Worman, another former Stampeder who was cut last season and picked up by the Esks African group to perform Eyuphuru, one of Mozambique’s best-known popular musical groups, will perform July 26 at 8 p.m, at the Capito!
