Christmas fires occur ‘ because’ - extra ‘hazards "are brought into- homes, schools and public buildings. A little know- ledge of these hazards and how to prevent tragic fires will keep Christmas safe and merry.., The. Christmas Tree Remember your Christmas tree is very combustible, being filled with: pitch and’ resin, it ignites easily and burns furiously. Selection Choose a small tree instead of a large.one. It can be just as pretty: and it is less hazardous: Be sure to obtain a freshly cut tree. Setting-up 2 Do_ not, set up the tree until the day before Christmas. Keep it outdoors until ready ‘to in- stall. Set up :thé tree ‘in ‘the coolest part of the house, away from radiators, heaters and fire- places.::,Do not block. entrances or passage-ways.
