Vancouver Lodge No. 3, Vancouver Temple No. 29, Vancouver Terminal No. 15 and Mainland Temple No. 14 sponsored the three-day event in celebrating Van- couver Lodge No. 3's 100th birthday. Grand Temple Pythian Sis- ters convened at 2 p.m. with Temple No. Penticton chairing the meet- ing. In honor of Vancouver Lodge’s 100th birthday the officers wore old robes that were loaned by Maple Leaf Temple No. 4, Rossland and thought to be the only ones in existence in B.C. Joint opening ceremonies of Grand Lodge was held in the Royal Towers at 7:30 p.m. with Grand Lodge of- ficers and sisters taking part. Seating of the honored guests, Grand Lodge and Grand Temple officers was handled by the sisters of Van- couver Temple No. 29. There was a roll call of subordinate temples and opening of Grand Temple in Ritualistic form: A report followed on the credential committee and conferring of grand temple degrees and a report of grand chief and grand officers. A memorial hour took place at 7:30 p.m. with the sisters and knights taking part. The Cerebral Palsy meeting followed with sev eral donations given. given. At 9 p.m. a “degree staff” from White City Temple No. 11 Powell River performed. This was the only degree staff taking part, so there was no competition. Grand Sessions began at 8:30 a.m. May 9. G.C. Louise Schweb gave her acceptance speech and named her DDGCs. Joan Marks of Kootenay Temple No. 37 Castlegar was named DDGC for District No. 2. Past GC Genevieve Marinus presented PGC Roxie Reeder with her PGC pin. JOAN MARKS DDGC for District No. 2 PGC Rose Soberlak of Kootenay Temple No. 37 was appointed third member of the law committee and Joy Saunders was appointed president of the PDDGC's club. A banquet and grand ball followed. Rosevale Temple No. 38 Fruitvale won the grand raffle of $100. Grand lodge sessions will take place in Vernon in 1987. Local sisters attending Grand Lodge were PGC Rose Soberlak, Mary Gleboff (delegate to grand), PDDGC Joy Saunders and MEC Myrtle Thomas. A.E. (Slim) Thomas was the lone knight attending from Twin Rivers Lodge No. 70. Brenda Hadikin had the lone entry in the senior poster contest sponsored by local knights and sisters. She was awarded an Honorable Mention at Grand Lodge and $25 from Twin Rivers Lodge No. 70 and $25 from Koot enay Temple No. 37 Meanwhile, the second meeting of the month was Jean Jones presiding and 24 sisters and brothers in atten- dance. Temple Delegate Mary Gleboff gave her report on the district convention and also on grand lodge. On June 11 Kootenay Temple No. 37 catered to the Air Cadet banquet in the regional complex, serving approximately 100 cadets and guests. ‘The first meeting of the month was held June 12 with 17 sisters and two brothers attending. Joy Saunders, Inis Me Adam, Lil Neuman, and Slim and Myrtle Thomas attended a pot luck supper June 19 with Trail Lodge No. 23 as host. Grand Chancellor Michael Yakimichuk of Trail was installed with Grand Chan- cellor Hughie Wray of Co- quitlam as installing officer Grand Chancellor Michael Yakimchuk performed his first official duties by in stalling Ivan Johstone of Trail as District Deputy, and Gordon Beattie as Lodge Deputy for Salmo Lodge No. 59, and Herman Schnidrig Trail Lodge No. 23.- .
