Neame. of London, Eug- land, has obtained options on the Commander, Jumbo and Gertrude mines, the purchase price of these three properties aggregating $875,000. The agreements have been recorded in Rossland and the terms of the bonds were secured today from the recorders books by the Recorp. The Commander Mining and Smel- ‘ing conipany incorporated under the laws of the state of Washington has entered into an agreement with Douglas J. Neame that in consider- ation of $250,000 lawful meney of the United States being paid into, the Bank of M 1 of Rossland pay to the order of the cémpany on or be- fore April 1, 1897 a good deed will be executed and the mine turned over to the purchaser. The agreement is signed by W. J. Harris, president of the company--and. Douglas J. Neame per E. Denzel; secretary for Gerson, Haas & Denzel, incorporated. The Jumbo is bonded to Douglas J. Neame, a cash payment of $3.500 be- ing made and acknowledged, the con- ditions of the sale being that the sum + of $500,000 shall be paid to the Jambo Le that idea and adsarté that nothing but the formal recorded abandonment pro- vided by statute should work a for- feiture of a location prior to its lapse by efflux of time, With all deference to both these views I venture to suggest that neither is good law. Ifalocator A tells B that he in- tends to abandon thenceforth, his lo- cation, and thereby leads or induces B'to go to the trouble and expense of re-locating and recording the claim, Itt h prior to the expiry of A’s Jorner, W J. Fraser, Oscar Schille, E statutory right, A. will by the rule of pany, of which M.R.Galusha is president, before April 1, 1897. The cash payment of $3,500 is not to be considered a part of the purchase price and if at the expiration of the month 1 Price is not forth ing, the $3,500 will be forfeited and the deal declared off. The Gertrude, owned by the Ger- trude Gold Mining company, is bonded to Douglas Neame, a cash payment of $700 being made, the purchase price te be $125,000 and the time of the, option to expire April 5, 1897. oe BOARD OF TRADE MEETING. There are against D’s goods and asserts no title thereto he will not be allowed after the sale to claim the goods from the buyer E, for O’s conduct has led E to part with his money; much more so would this be the case had C declared at the sale that he made no claim to the goods or abandoned any that he had. Lalonde’s Snpporters Meet this Eve- ning in the Committee Rooms, C. O. Lalonde’s supporters will meet tonight at 8 o’clock in the committee roome in the Commercial block when aclaim can enure to the benefit of some person only to whom it hasbeen communicated and who has been led thereby to acquire an interest in the land at some labor or expense or both. A pereon knowing of this intention but not‘acting upon it in any way would acquire thereby no_ rights against the original locator or in the land. In the above case Noel, one of the locators of the Zenith claim, swore that he did some usseesment work but hie partner refusing to do any, he, Noel, “quit.” Surely that was not de- claring that he abandoned then and iorover his rights to the claim, but even 80, no one claiming adversely to Noel’s right, took, by action or trouble or expense, advantage of that declar- ation, and meanwhile Noel was free up to the day his claim lapsed by statute to iid his i to the will be gone also the executive and general com- mittees will be appointed. —=__ OFF TO CARSON.
