Mr, McNichol in his remarks stressed the work done by the Legion both-in: Veterans Affairs and as a community service. ‘The growth of the Legion was briefly discussed ' and although new members are coming in, it Is quite noticeable that there'is a tendency for older members to allow their ‘memberships to lap- se and this point was one of the highlights “of the president's speech. New legislation is before Parliamnt’ and it is hoped that in the nedr future, benefits will be forthcoming not only to the Veterans but their dependents and the eltizens as well. ° In his tour of the province, Mr. McNichol found a healthy recondition in the Legion and was very pleased with his tour though ‘the Kootenay zones.
