James Warner went all the way for Castlegar and Pereverzoff took the loss. In the second game, Cubs’ hurler Kevin Wilson held Grand Forks to one hit in the second. Meanwhile, the Castle- gar club chalked up two runs in the second, three in the fifth on doubles by Ken Gorkoff and Tim Paul, and four in the sixth inning on two base hits by Gorkoff and Paul. East Kootenay Angels. swept into first place last week after registering nearly identi- cal 4-8 victories in a Castlegar double header. Both the Angels and Cubs came to life at Castlegar, as doubles by Garden and Bob James combined with three singles, resulting in three East Kootenay runs. Reg Veysey hit safely and James Warner tripl- ed to send in two runs in Castlegar's half. Two walks and Migneault’s single in the fourth allowed Brian Dickie to cross with what proved to be the winning run. Two errors and a sacrifice fly then blanked‘them 9-0.in Cas- .. In Weekend Games -by Warner led to Castlegar's final tally in the seventh. . Neale-went-all-the-way:for « pa the win over Rob Sherstobitoff who also went the distance and each club had seven hits. East Kootenay made all three errors in the-game. The second contest was practically a rerun of the first as each team had six hits and one error. The Angels fell be- hind in the early stages when a double by Cubs’ Ken Gorkoft and single by team-mate Doug Huth scored two: first-inning runs. Huth's double in the sixth rounded out Castlegar’s attack. The Angels scored once in the fourth with the help of Bob O'Brien's hit, twice in the sixth on 'Al Roemer’s homer and - again in the seventh ona double by Wayne Bell. Haney threw the first five innings before Bob Lucas made a brief appearance. Minnis came on in the fifth and com- pleted the game for the victors. Kevin Wilson fired a complete game for the Cubs. Seniors’ Bus Trip A reminder to the Senior Citizens that your next planned bus trip is for Monday July 11. This trip is scheduled for the Slocan Valley with a visit to the Sandon Ghost Town, then over to Kaslo and home by the Kootenay Lake. Individual lunches are suggested for your convenience.
