s a 15 km route beginning
and ending at the Castlegar
Recreation Complex.

The run consists of three legs,
each leg approximately five km
distance for team entries.

The route crosses three local
bridges, complex to Brilliant
Bridge, Brilliant Bridge to Rob-
son Bridge and Robson Bridge to
Complex, The race is slated to
begin at 11am. Sunday, Jan. 21.
There are individual and team
categories for all ages.

Certificate program begins in

GED Test

Dec. 15 is the closing date to
register to write_the next GED
test which is offered at the
Castlegar campus Jan. 13, 1996,

A completed GED application
form, together with the $40 Tegis-
tration fee must be received by
the Ministry of Education in Vic-
toria by the registration deadline
to be eligible to write the test.
Applications, GED study guides

OBITUARY

Mary G. Waajoff

On Sunday, November
26, 1995 Mary G. Wanjoft
(Maloff) passed away at the
age of 90 years.

Funeral

Wednesday, November 29,
1995, with burial at the Bril-
liant

Mary was bom January 9,
1905 in Canora,
Saskatchewan where she
lived for about 6 years.

G. Wanjoft and moved to
Castlegar where they lived
for a few years.

During these years, she
gave birth to Peter, Waiter
and Mary.

In the early 1930s, they
moved to Robson and the
family opened a small dairy
and fruit farm, as well as a
Store for the Population
of Robson.

In the late 1930s she gave
birth to another son, George.
The store was operated until
the early 1950s.

Mary enjoyed living in Rob-
Son and gardening. But read-
ing and knitting became her
Past time in her later years.
Funeral arrangements
were under the direction of
the Castlegar Funeral
Chapel.

While Galliver is from
Edmonton, Alberta, he has lived
in the West Kootenays since
1978. He received his B.A. and
B.Ed. from the University of
Alberta in Edmonton, the Uni-
versity of British Columbia and
the Open Learning Institute.

Galliver’s philosophical foun-
dation for teaching is to take the
students from where they are

Susan Geissler is teaching
English 10 and French 10 at
Stanley Humphries Secondary
School. She is also a consultant
for Adult Education in Trail.

+ Geissler is from Whitefish,

Montana, and has lived in
Castlegar with her husband and
children for three years.

Geissler's professional quali-
fications include a B.A., B.Ed.
and an M.Ed. A dedicated high
school French teacher inspired
Geissler to make teaching her
career. As a teacher, Geissler
appreciates the unique opportu-
nity she has to look at the capac-
ity of each student’s mind.
“Seeing the potential for each
student is exciting,” says
Geissler. She tells her students
each person's thoughts have
validity and are worthy of
respect. In her lesson plans,
Geissler provides activities for
