The Warriors have still to taste defeat in league
play in the early stages of the KIJHL, whipping
Castlegar on Friday night and then running up that
horrendous score in Grand Forks on Saturday, they
certainly are looking impressive in the matter of

scoring goals.
There is no doubt that with the coaching staff
Bob has gathered around him he will get c<r
operation plus and all the boys are real capable of
doing a job. One of my favorites in his playing days,
Dave Espenhain, has one who used his head on the
ice to good advantage and will no doubt be a big help
to Richard. I haven't seen as much of Rob Vanzella
but if our manager and the other coaches are happy
with him, I'll go along with them.
~t Just might turn out to be a real good season.
Seems like we have the horses and the guys to direct
them. As I've said before, good luck, Warriors,
maybe this will turn out to be the year we've waited
for for quite a while now!
From hockey to curling, Dan Burnett informs
me that he called a meeting of the Rossland retirees
for this Thursday morning, hope we get a good
showing of the present members and maybe we've
been able to pick up a few. It would be nice to add a
number of guys to our present roster. And to you
guys out there who have your mornings or early
afternoons free, you might find curling a fine way to
put in some of that time which might otherwise be

wasted, unless one is into the skiing, cross-country
or downhill or maybe put in a few hours a day
bending your elbow, curling will not cramp your
style too much and you might even get to like it, as
many of our present members do. Chances come up
during the season to take bus trips around the
country and meet other curlers and discuss different things with them, we make trips to Trail,
Nelson, Grand Forks and Castlegar on a more or
less regular basis. There's always fun a a crowded
bus and ours invariably are full, just a straight day
trip, only on very special occasions are there
overnight stays.
Now, from local sports to the Canadian and
North American scene. The world series starts
Saturday. NHL hockey and all the other leagues
across the country are swinging into action now,
CFL football teams are juggling for position at the
present time and it won't be long before playoff
spots will be grabbed. Edmonton in the west and
Winnipeg in the east look like hot numbers ~ht
now, maybe they will contest the final in the dome. I
know, Winnipeg in the east! How come? Well they
are the farthest east of the good teams and that's
why they were picked to help those struggling
easterners.
Well it's getting close to game time so I'll go
look at the tube for awhile. So, I'll see you again
