1979 film Breaking Awa:
has had $1.4 million in dam-
ages taken away from her by
the judge in her nude-photos
lawsuit against Hustler mag-
azine.

U.S. District Judge Nicho-
las Bua, terming a jury's
original award of $2 million in
damages excessive, reduced
the punitive damages to
$100,000 from $1.5 million,
He left intact the award of
$500,000 in compensatory
damages.

The 32-year-old actress
must aceept the $600,000
total or the judge will grant
Hustler’s motion for a new
trial. She sued Hustler and
photographer Augustin
Gregory, charging the mag-
azine's unauthorized use of
her nude photos in 1961 hurt
her career.
