She was born in Barry Dock, South Wales, on July 13, 1907. Askew came to Canada in 1925, arriving at Bellvue, Alta. where she lived for six months. She then moved to Trail where she lived until 1950, then moved to Kinnaird. She was a member of the Castlegar Calvary Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star No. 32 Trail, and Minto Chapter No. 79 of Castlegar where she served as Matron of both lodges and had been the Grand Representative for Alberta. She was presented with her 50 year pin in 1987. She also belonged to the Daughters of the Nile and Castlegar Senior Citizens. One of her greatest joys was baking and having her friends in for a cup of tea. She is survived by one daughter , Joan ~| and son-in-law Peter Roth, granddaughters Dianne (Robert) Ramage, Kathryn (Robert) Harker of Castlegar and Cynthia Chambers of Kamloops; great grandchildren, Lisa, Stephen, James, Bradley, Amber, David, Chris, Ryan, Katrina, Susan and Elizabeth; and great great granddaughter Lacey Rae; nieces Sheila Thederahn (Castlegar), Shirley McAdam (Vancouver), and Joyce Zentner (Kelowna) and their families; new- phew Billy Bird (Castlegar); sister-in-law Ethel Spain (Trail) and her family and rel- atives in Wales. She was predeceased by her mother, fa- ther, sisters Edith and Cassie, and her hus- band Douglas in 1990. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be conducted at the Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, April 3, 1992 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Marsh offi- ciating.
