CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, May 31, 1962 Forest Service Has ‘Bird Dogs’ The B.C. Forest Service has just completed a week-long course of instruction for 12 bird-dogs. Not the canine variety, Bowsver, nor for hunting game birds. These bird-dogs are Foreat fixed-wing planes which play the same part in fire bombing as path- finder aircraft played during war- time high-explosive bombing, A standby bird-dog will take off to make a reconnaissance mo- ments after a fire is spotted in area, Air Service men, and their job wi ee part of a $400,000 to cut down forest ing | iankers will be alerted at the costs this summer.
