The swim mect was indeed a success, as the com- bined effort of many individuals made it possible for the Aqua- nauls to host a large swim meet with over 300 swimming en- thusiasts attending. The weather even co-op- erated, as the rain on Sunday held off long enough for the trophy presentations to be made. Swimming.-wise, the Aqua- nauts made it three victories in a row as they again won the swim meet with a nice cushion between them and the second place team, Revelstoke. After the final event, Castlegar was in first place with 864 points and was follow- ed by Revelstoke with 365 points. Next came Trail with 324 points, Nelson with 276 points, and then Colville with 187 points. Although the score would indicate that Castlegar had no real problem with any opposi- tion, there were many swim- mers from the Revelstoke club who were outstanding indivi- dually. Coached by Rose Imlsh, the Revelstoke crew added a lot of excitement to the swim mect. Tracy Baird of Revel- stoke showed that she will be a contender in the B.C. champion- ships this year as she broke the 15 and 16 girls 1.M. record by 12 seconds. John, Keith, Grant and Shona Imlah were also prominent swimmers during the weekend. As for the Aquanauts, although the team generally did very well, I felt that some individuals were not quite mentally prepared for the meet and therefore there were some fundamental errors, However, these mistakes will be correct- ed, and the team will work hard this week to get prepared for the Nelson Invitational meet this weekend. Mike Berger again broke two records, as he set two new records in the 200 IM. and the 100 freestyle. Debbie Innes was a big surprise this weekend as she swam betler than she had all year in this meet. Lisa Uchida also had an excellent weekend as she set a new record in 8 and under backstroke, and Jason Leitch also broke the 11- and 12-year- old boys backstroke record. Aggregate winners were as follows: Girls 8 and Under First. -Lisa Uchida 26 pts. Second-Pauline Orr 22 pts. Girls 9 and 10 First -DoreenInnes 25 pts. Second-Erika Berger 17 pts.
