Hydro confirmed Tuesday that the Murphy Creek. dam project will again be delayed and that the Keenleyside generating project is clouded in uncer. tainty. Murphy Creek “is going to be delayed,” said Bill Mykes, Hydro’s community affairs officer. Mykes eaid in an interview that official confirmation of the delay .will come in the. Crown corporation's anausl systems plan due in January, “We will definitely be delaying Murphy {Creek),” he said. “I can't tell you how long.” Project Peter Calder ‘aid in an interview this hora that no decision has:been made on Murphy Creek. He said Hydro staff.is still preparing the application for the B.C. Utilities Commission. Once that application is complete, it will be turned over to Hydro's board of directors in January, and they will , determine whether. the Project will prpceed or be delayed, Calder said. Construction on Murphy Creek is scheduled to begin in 1988, with the in-service date set for 1998. i However, Calder pointed out, “It looks like the load growth is going to decline even further.” He admitted that both Murphy.
