Ny, ws Castlegar News November 25,1967 BUSINESS SHARE PLAN A SUCCESS TORONTO (CP) — Companies that offer share-own. ership plans to their employees have a dramatically better economic performance than companies that don’t, says a report prepared by the Toronto Stock Exchange. Listed companies on the TSE with share-ownership plans have 24-per-cent higher productivity, 95-per-cent higher profit, 123-per-cent higher profit growth over five years, 92-per-cent higher return on equity and 66-per-cent higher return on capital than others in the same sector, the report showed. The of an hi ship plan also leads to an immediate increase of two to 10 per cent in the market value of the company’s stock, the report added. It shows 63 per cent of listed companies have these share-ownership plans, with most set up from 1983 to 1986. An estimated 750,000 Cenetes employees of these are parti ship plans. Most of the plans are rt option programs for senior executives and only 31 per cent are available to a broad sector of workers. TSE vice-president Terry Popowich said the ex- change hopes the information it has uncovered will lead to more government incentives for employers and employees.
