Two events have occupied my attention over the past week. On Tue~y morning last week our rink, composed of Bert Morrow, Bart Dudley, John Bruce and myself went over to Nelson where we spent three days curling in the Over-60 bonspiel. We won only one out of six games played, but we had a really good time doing it! The accommodation at the Lord Nelson was excellent as was the ice at the Nelson Arena. Our off-ice time was used to the utmost and the banquet on Wednesday night was out of this world! As was expected, the Stone and McAulay rinks form Trail were the only two to go through the 'spiel with unbeaten records. They will have to meet sometime to establish a rep to go fo North Vancouver for the B.C. playoffs. On the Stone rink it was Roy skip, John Cameron third, Reg Stone second, and Bill Forrest lead. While McAulay had John Jarret playing third, Bill Kassian second, and George Shaw throwing the lead rocks. The Stone rink got quite a shock in their last game when the Frank Hill rink of Nelson took them right to the last rock before losing. Meanwhile, the McAulay rink had to stand off a challenge from the Tim Timbrell rink of Trail. One other rink from Rossland went over, Angus Popplewell had Russ Broughton, Gil Besso and Cleve Cowland and won four our of six games, losing only to the Stone rink and the George Beaudry rink of Nelson.
