They are working hard, putting out the effort needed,” according to Selkirk College Cross-country Coach Derek Peregrym. Selkirk’s top finishing runner was Jason Schultz, a first year team member who covered the course in 29:11, second place behind Okanagan College run- ner, Mike Passmore. This was the second race in a row Schultz has been looking at the heels of Passmore as the two approached the finish line. Last week at Selkirk College's BCCAA run Schultz was only five seconds back, this most recent event had a 40 second gap separating the two strongest competitors. Mike McQueen and Greg Roberts, two other Selkirk College team members came in exactly one minute apart, McQueen was in sixth and Roberts crossed in ninth position Peregrym was impressed with the strong finish by team member Chris Owens, who cruised towards the finish line looking stronger than he had seen before The course at this event was “just as difficult” according to Peregrym as the course set up the previous weekend here at the Selkirk College run In the Women’s event, Elena Walker was the first Selkirk Saint to complete the course, in seventh place. Two other Selkirk runners, Candace Harp- er and Mureena Mclvor fin- ished back-to-back, in 11th and 12th places respectively.
