This water sport uses all the body’s major muscle groups arms, legs, trunk, shoulders so swimming gives not only a good fitness workout, but also a body-wide toning and trimming Since its inception in 1961 the Castlegar Aquanauts Swim Club has provided the younger orea residents wih a very high calibre swim fitness program. This swim program has been very beneficial to the hundreds of individuals who have participated at one time or another as an Aquanaut. Team spirit, fellowship, building of character, physical training and o knowledge of swim fundamentals have always been attributes provided by top level instructors to every youngster who has had the opportunity to be a member of the Aquanouts This year's Aquanauts are no exception as under the guidance of coach Vince Mikuska and his assistants Rob McGauley and Ray Yule the 115 swimmers are demonstrating all the qualities of past years by combining hard work as well as good team spirit while represen ting Castlegar at the various area swim meets The many individual and team awards won over the years at swim meet competitions surely prove that the Aquanauts swim program ranks high in the province.
