And college president Leo Perra says that despite the dim economy, their future is bright. : ae college does an excel- lent job preparing le for the future,” Perra gaia “A lot of our students have no problem moving into em- ployment immediately. “Some even have jobs be- fore they graduate.” However, Perra admitted that some fields are cutting back, and employment in those fields is scarce. “The airlines aren’t doing a lot of hiring right now,” he said, “but I feel confident that within six months, most of our graduates will have jobs.” Also on Saturday the col- lege handed out scholarships and awards. “The Spirit award was giv- en out for the first time this year,” said Selkirk College Foundation spokesperson Fae Lee. _ “It was given to the indi- vidual who showed an out- standing contribution to- wards establishing spirit at the Selkirk College.” Jeff Leggat took home the prize for his two-year stint as student body president, his work with the CounterAt- tack program and so on. “In my opinion, Jeff has contributed a lot to the col- lege in the last two years,” Lee said. “He’s really got the students involved in their school this year.
