And it isn’t only human be- ings who depend on the forests. This dependency is by so many other living creatures that biologists can’t yet even guess the number of different ones (probably mis- sions of species). From Sept. 24 to Nov. 15 the West Kootenay National Exhibition Centre will play host to “The Wonder of Wood,” an exhibition originating with the Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature. This exhibition is divided into three sections: The Ecology of Wood; The Evo- lution of the Human Use of Wood; and Woods of the World. It presents the science and beauty of wood — how hu- mans have used it in the past, how we use it now, and how Legal Notices 930 other creatures use it, as well as something about the nature of the major forest types and the thousands of different species of wood found around the world. There is something here for people of all ages, including a “touch” component. For all that it draws from the realm of the natural and social sciences, the exhibition also contains a strong esthet- ic component. Wood, after all, has presented a material for artists for millennia. West Kootenay residents are invited to come experience “The Wonder of Wood” and learn about the importance of wood to life. Area teachers are invited to contact NEC Education Co-or- dinator Maureen Stelck for in- formation regarding the edu- cation program to be run in conjunction with this exhibi- tion. The NEC is located just across Highway 3A from the Castlegar Airport. ee | SNOW REMOVAL Selkirk College invites offers for snow removal for the 1992/93 season at: A) Castlegar Campus - parking lots 1984 GMC Rally 8 passenger van Well maintained, clean and reliable, $4,595 O.B.0. 365-2750 1984 TOYOTA 4X4, new tires, silver clear coat paint, P.S., P.B. 365-7654 _ 1989 F150 4X4, air, cruise, automatic Good condition. 365-2386 1990 F150 SuperCab, 4X4, immaculate, must see, 49,000 km., 302, loaded, $18,500. 359-7990 evenings.
