The class of 12 students entered the lounge area to background music provided by Ray Gattinger of Kinnaird. With welcoming remarks by Selkirk College council chairman Frank Beinder, the graduation cluss was addressed by counsellor A. E. Dunn. Following the presentation of pins by acting director of the department of nursing education, Mrs, Lyn Allen and conferring of diplomas by dean of studies, Dr. D.L, Ball, the valedictory address was given by Patricia Kennedy of Ross- land. Pancake Breakfast Next Event for Active Boat Club Nine boats participated in the annual Dominion Day cruise on the Arrow Lakes, Under the capable leader- ship of cruisemaster Larry Reibin, the boats assembled at the Arrow Lake Marina for a leisurely cruise to Nakusp with everyone enjoying a social hour with dinner cooked “dockside”. Tho weekend was spent with boats venturing further up the lake and a great deal of fishing with some excellent results, This weekend served asa reminder that this cruise is an annual event and that everyone is welcome. This week was i d from Coroner's Jury Delivers Findings, on Fafal Accident Acoroner’s eG fica that George Vlanich was to blame in a highway accident that claim- ed the lives of Harold and Nora Fishwick of Trail and Mr. Vianich, also of Trail. The mishap occurred early Sunday morning, June 3, about four miles north of Trail on Highway 3 near Murphy Creek, Mr. Fishwick, 62, and his wife Nora, of 1540 McBeth Street were returning home Europe some time ago. He “also said the death occurred within seconds of impact. RCMP Const. Phillip Leroy gave testimony concerning blood samples sent to the crime detection laboratory in Vane- ouver. The laboratory found the blood alcohol content of Mr. Fishwick to be .17 per cent and of Mr. Vianich to be .11 per cent. The maximum legal level is .08. Const. Gary Barbero at- tended the scene and said that when he arrived, he found the min-bus facing north in the southbound lane across double yellow lines. He also said weather and road conditions were good at the time of the accident. “ Daniel Webster, an attor- ney representing the Fish- wick's insurance company, asked if the vehicles were in the same place after impact and if there were any skid marks, Const. Barbero stated there - were no skid marks and he felt the vehicles remained at the point of collision. Const. Leroy estimated that both vehicles were travel- ing between 40 and 60 miles per hour in the 60-mile- -per-hour zone and there were no signs of excessive speed. Dr. Daly instructed the six-member jury on what was required of them and after a short recess they reached a decision. Foreman Viggo Fred- eriksen gave the jury's finding that while both’ Mr. Fishwick and Mr. Vlanich were impaired, Mr. Vianich was to blame, being on the wrong side of the road, to Arrow Boat Club with the boat inspection by the ROMP.
