Sports Mailbox ,.,, , Sports Editor, The Times: r I feel honored by being asked to a few words and to share some happy memories following this long overdue reunion of the Rossland Redmen Lacrosse Club. It is hard to believe that 33 years have gone by since this team became B.C. Champions in 1954, and remained so for three years-1954-1955 and 1956. I had the honor of serving as president for some years 811d am grateful for the wonderful memories that those years have blessed me with. They were exciting years for team players and fans alike. At this time I would especially like to acknowledge the support of all of the loyal Redmen fans. Remember the roar that rose from the old and then the new arena when the Redmen scored a goal? Remember the loud groan fm all our fans when the opposing team scored a goal? Remember the guys on the opposing teams, who, in between games were our friends from Trail, Nelson and Spokane? In spite of being ยท on opposing teams there was a friendly yet competitive feeling. Never any rowdiness, or real ill feeling after a game. We all took our wins and our losses, with good grace - and then came back for more. Remember how .we felt when we won a game, and especially on winning the B.C. Championship? On behalf of the Redmen, I would like to take a moment to say thank you - to all of those fans who turned out game after game to encourage and cheer us on. I wonder how we would have faired if they were not always there - travelling form town to town just to root for their home team. While I acknowledge our good fans, I must mention that the Redmen returned in part, that goodwill. The town glowed during those years. Interest was high and was beneficial to team players and Rosslanders alike. I like to feel that because of the Redmen, Rossland seemed more alive. There were a lot of stories told during this reunion. There were names recalled fo those who are no longer with us. We will never forget them. Many of them were represented by members of their families - families who will always be a part of our Redmen family. Again, thanks for the memories - I am very proud to be included as a member of the Rossland Redmen Lacrosse Club. Let's not wait another 33 years to get together again. Good luck to everyone.
