CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, July 15, 1976 ‘Four Brothers and Six Sisters Take Part in Wedding A gh AB mat Archibald Photo To Make ‘Weyes or Not To Make Waves Some barbers in Bluegrass _} country feel they are being -fleeced because of a state law + which prohibits them from : making waves. It is against the law in Kentycky for barbers to give ‘permanent waves to their cus- 5 tomers. And since the curly hair style produced by a permanent is popular, among members of the younger generation, par- ticularly in the. metropolitan areas, a group of barbers has gone tocourt to change the law. So far, they're winning, but assistant attorney general G. Shearer filed a response in court recently asking that an injunction prohibiting the state beard of barbering from en- forcing the law, be lifted. “Barbers <-want to give - permanent waves, finger waves, without ever having gone to a cosmetology, school,” Shearer said.
