Just think — and then think again — about hiring a
student. Even if you hire one just for a morning, afternoon,
day or week you will be doing a student a great service.

If you can hire a student for the summer, you will give
that person an invaluable chance. That job will provide the
student with an-opportunity to enter the “real” world of the
workplace, to gather experience for future jobs, to lengthen
a resume, to earn money to go back to school, and above all it
could be that first “break” to start the student's career on an
upward path. Remember yours?

Summer can be awfully slow for students after the rush
and strain ‘of a year at school. However, for many students,
the challenge of looking for summer employment is a
welcome change.

This is a good description of the attitudes of the
students registered at the Canada Employment Centre for

ofice and to begin a job search.

They spend several days checking in at the office,
hounding the Student Placement Officers for jobs. Other
days, they sit by their phone waiting to hear from Denise or
myself about a job vacancy.

There is no need for you to chase students — our file
holds a good supply of job-eager students. You, as an
employer, can contact us to find someone to trim your hedge,
answer phones, paint your fence, or do anything you cannot
find time to do at home or at work.

It is impossible for us to contact each employer,
business person, and householder, so we would like to
remind you to phone Denise or myself to discuss your
