And because of its size, it would probably take several hours for it to move 20 yards.”” You couldn't call the gatorlizard a go-getter, says Russell, whose wit is as dry as the bones he digs up. Russell came up with new names like gatorlizard and cowturtle so that the general reader could avoid the Latin and Greek tongue-twisters. But he had another reason too. “The vernacular names . . . reflect the reptilian and mam malian characteristics they probably exhibited, as well as the appearance of mixture of Temporary Change of Business Hours Due to the Cape Horn Blutt Construc tion Road Closure, we will now be CLOSED MONDAYS and open 1) @.m.-8 p.m. Tues.-Fri., 9. a.m.-9 p.m. Weekends We opologize for any inconvenience this temporary change may cause 359-7855 HOURS: 7 o.m.-Midnight Mon.-Sat €.m.-10 p.m. Sun. 651- In Our Lunch Menu Lite Bites & Appetizers With Croissants and Sandwiches Featuring: Kalamari, Assorted Gourmet Potato Skins & Caesar Salad Castlegar 18th ith Street 365-6887 _ _ iclien oh WE ARE A FULL SERVICE TRAVEL AGENCY AMERICAN THANKSGIVING November 23, 1989 INCLUDES: * 2 Nights Accommodation at the Spokane Sheraton * Full Thanksgiving Dinner * Dinner Show Starring Myron Floren & Stan Boreson 1 Day Membership to Costco $169 Double Occupancy Seniors Receive a $10 Discount DIRECT FLIGHTS SPOKANE — RENO NOW AVAILABLE! Russell’s book is a journey, era by era, through the-Mesozoic period about 250 million years ago. He begins with the millennia before the dinosaurs, then adds a chapter on the Triassic when crocodile-like reptiles were domin: nt. Russell moves to the Jurassic era, the heyday of the Brontosaurus, then shifts to the Cretaceous, the period frozen in the rocks of Alberta's Badlands when Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops strutted like Hulk Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper. Russell’s prose is complemented by artist Eleanor Kish’s portrayals of the dinosaur age, and by dozens of maps and photographs, Russell closes the book with his own theory about the extinction ef the dinosaurs.
