George Shanks, who lives at
Kinnaird, is president of the
Rosslend Racing’ Pigeon Club and
wants to start a. local club which
would embrace all the communi-
tiles along ‘the Columbia from
Riverdale to Renata,

‘The sport is not a costly one,
said Mr. Shanks, He said 32 pig-
eons eat only 10 cents worth of
food a day, “less than it takes to
feed a dog.” The racing of birds
is also inexpensive with a cost
of about 10 cents per bi for
short races and 30 cents a bird
for long races.

Mr. Shanks said most “fan-
ciers," as pigeon racers are cal-
led, fly about 15 birds in their
first four races and eight birds
in the next three, For the two
longest races they fly about four
birds each.

Avracing’ program for this
year has already been set up by
the Rossland, club. The first race
will be held’ from Penticton on

May 30 with the second race
again from Penticton on June 6.

Birds will fly from Kamloops

on June-14 and 21, from Ash-

The Repute of CCF Socialism

socialism, since the word seems
to be employed to connote so
many things in so many parts of
the world,

rold Winch, MP, out of the as-
sociation of his fellows for re-

world and plainly and honestly
speaking his mind about the ef-
fect of troubles between labor
and management on the sale of
B.C. goods in world. markets, I
draw some very strange inferen-
ces about what are alleged to be
the orthodox views of orthodox
socialists,

more about socialism than he did
