The committee asked only that the board agree to adhere to any final r dations trustee Evelyn Voykin, chairman of the management committee. “They had nothing new to say. They still want an ind d review and we’re resulting from the review. However, the board’s management committee held firm on the board’s position. “We've upheld our position and have no intentions of changing it at this time,” said not prepared to go for that. But I want to make it quite clear that we have gone more than out on a limb for this group.” Moreira described the management committee’s attitude at the meeting as “arrogant and flippant” and said he thought the purpose of the meeting was to -discuss alternatives, not present a different position. “We’re not looking for an ounce of blood, we're looking for a solution,” he said. At stake for the Castlegar school board is district funding for 46 students and the stability of Tarrys elementary school. “The bottom line, unfortunately, is money and we have a school to protect out there,” Voykin said. “Our first Priority is to protect this district.” Moreira said the parents have approached the Nelson school board which has agreed to meet with the Castlegar school board to discuss the boundary issue. We have long needed two kilometres of new highway bypassing the smelter, the smelter hill and various railway crossings in Trail. “We have the hospital expansion in Castlegar — again, much needed — and we have seen imp: to our provincial parks — in perteuler, Champion Lakes and Syringa Creek arks. “You'd almost think this was a Social Credit riding, wouldn’t you” CONNIE SUSUT received a bachelor of science in computer engineering from the University of Alberta at Edmonton at convocation ceremonies June 5.
